Standing Together for Animals and You (STAY) is our Pet Retention Program, designed to help you keep your pet happy & healthy at home.

  • Free Pet Food Pantries

    Our shelter distributes FREE pet food on a weekly basis at the following locations (on a rotating schedule basis):

    United with Love located at 715 Byron St

    Huntington County Humane Society located at 390 Thurman Poe Way.

    If you need assistance with pet food outside of the scheduled pantry dates, you are welcome to stop by our shelter any time during regular business hours.

  • Spay/Neuter Assistance

    Felines

    If you live inside Huntington County and have a cat who needs altered, please check out our “Prevent-a-Litter Program” page on our website. We have several opportunities for you to get your cat spayed/neutered + rabies vaccination for just $30 (*additional financial assistance is available if needed).

    If you live outside of Huntington County, we recommend our partners at Furry Fix who offer vouchers on a first come-first serve basis on the 1st of every month for just $25-$45. Follow them on Facebook for details www.facebook.com/furryfix

    Canines

    If you live inside Huntington County and have a dog who needs altered, please submit a STAY assistance form below. We have several opportunities for you to get your dog spayed/neutered + rabies vaccination for just $50 (*additional financial assistance is available if needed).

  • Low-Cost Vaccinations

    Vaccinations and additional services:

    Our shelter offers the following vaccines for just $10/vaccine:

    DAPPVL (5-in-1) vaccine for dogs,

    Bordetella vaccine for dogs,

    FVRCP vaccination for cats

    We also offer deworming, microchips, and nail trims for just $10 as well.

    You can get any of these services completed for any of your animals any time during regular business hours; No appointment needed.

  • Pet Deposit Assistance (Rentals)

    The STAY program can help with pet deposits for rental properties within Huntington County. If you are considering surrendering your pet due to the need for a pet deposit, please submit the STAY application below! Melissa will respond to your request within 48 hours.

  • Behavioral Training Assistance

    Thinking about surrendering your pet due to behavioral challenges? We have a certified canine behaviorist able to assist with any dog-related issues happening inside your home. We also have resources to connect you with feline behaviorists for any cat-related issues happening inside your home!

  • Short Term Foster Program

    We offer a temporary foster program for those experiencing urgent and critical situations.

    We will take in qualified pets for up to 30 days without fear of losing your pet.

  • Emotional Support Registration

    According to the Federal Fair Housing Amendments Act (FHAA), it is illegal to discriminate against someone with a recognized impairment. This law is relevant to emotional support animals because it means that housing rights must be given to those with emotional support animals.

    If you are moving into a facility with animal restrictions, it may be of benefit to get your pet registered as an Emotional Support Animal.
